Speaking practice guide
How to practise English speaking with AI and Voca
Voca Studio is for turning language you recognise into language you can use. Sign in, choose voice or text, set a purpose and correction style, then practise a conversation around your own topic, a role play, a scene or saved words.
A practical way to start
Step 1
Start a Voca Studio session
Create or sign in to your VocaScene account, open Voca Studio and choose voice or text. Text is an alternative when you do not want to use a microphone or voice recognition is not available.
Step 2
Give the session a clear purpose
Choose free conversation, saved words, a collection, a topic, a role play or a scene. For a focused saved-word session, Voca Studio lets you work with a small selection rather than trying to use everything at once.
Step 3
Set a level and correction style
Choose the speaking level and whether corrections should be gentle, balanced or detailed. Treat corrections as prompts to try the language again, not as a score that proves fluency.
Step 4
Speak, type and finish with one next use
If you use voice, turn on the microphone from the session when you are ready. Finish by saying or writing one improved sentence you could use outside the app, then revisit it in a later conversation.
Important limits
- Voca Studio requires an account. Available voice time, text turns and saved-word capacity depend on the account’s current allowance.
- Microphone access begins only when you start it. If permission is denied or speech recognition is unavailable, use text mode or check your browser microphone settings.
- AI conversation is practice support, not an assessment, certification or guarantee of speaking progress. For high-stakes language feedback, use an appropriate qualified teacher or examiner.
Frequently asked questions
Can I practise with Voca without speaking aloud?
Yes. Voca Studio has a text mode, so you can write your responses when voice is not practical or your browser cannot use microphone recognition.
What can I practise with Voca?
You can start a free conversation, work with saved words or a collection, describe a topic, rehearse a role play or continue from a scene you watched.
Will Voca correct every sentence?
The session uses the correction style you select: gentle, balanced or detailed. Choose the style that helps you keep talking while still noticing what you want to improve.
